• Valley's home market No. 1 for price increases- Article from The Arizona Republic about the extraordinary rise in home prices in Phoenix-metro area in 2004 (Home prices soared 55.2 percent!) which made it the hottest housing market in the USA. The article also talks about reality that the market has begun to cool down, and home prices in the Phoenix area may have peaked for the time being.

According to the latest information from the Office of Federal Housing Enterprise Oversight, which regulates mortgage firms Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, the average U.S. home price rose 12.2 percent for the 12 months through Sept. 30 from a year earlier. While that was a solid gain, it was slower than the 14.2 percent increase for the 12 months ended June 30.
